On August 11th 2025, we at alchemia-nova co-hosted a special ๐‚๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐š ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ฉ at the Climate Lab as part of our dissemination activities for the RURBANIVE Project EU, which focuses on ๐ข๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž ๐œ๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐›๐ข๐จ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ข๐จ๐ง.

The event was organised and led by Christine Bertl, who is currently writing her masterโ€™s thesis on the topic of fostering awareness and action for circular economy principles through participatory communication methods, which fits to our research and work in the RURBANIVE project. Christine brought the principles of the ๐œ๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐›๐ข๐จ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ฒ to life through her Pizza Brunch concept – a hands-on workshop focussing on the use of regional ingredients and surplus products to create delicious, plant-based pizzas. Demonstrating that resource efficiency can be both tasty and inspiring.

Participants explored innovative, locally sourced products that embody circular bioeconomy values, including:
๐ŸŒพ Flour from leftover bread by Bรคckerei Strรถck
๐Ÿ„ Mushroom sugo and pesto from Hut & Stiel GmbH
๐Ÿฅฌ Fresh vegetables from Blรผn Aquaponic Foods
๐Ÿฅ‚ Innovative drinks from SIMIร†N

In addition to discussing ingredients and food-waste reduction, and cooking (and eating!) delicious pizza,ย  feedback was gathered on the ๐€๐‘ ๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ being developed within the RURBANIVE project. We are excited to see where this tool will go and how it can make an impact on the way people think about food-waste, ultimately sparking more interest and engagement in the circular bioeconomy.
The workshop fostered connections between regional suppliers, sustainability-driven companies, and engaged citizens , showing that the transition to circular principles is possible through networks, synergies, and community action.

A heartfelt thank you to all our partners and participants who made this event a success: Pierre Reboul/autriche, Christine Bertl, Lara Roth, Robert Slade, Nils Klose, Julia Schwarz.
