From 7โ€“11 September in Gdaล„sk, alchemia-nova (ANRI) joined #WETPOL2025. Eriona Canga presented insights from the EU ProCleanLakes project on advancing The project is coordinated by BOKU University and unites 18 partners from 11 countries to demonstrate innovative routes to healthier freshwater ecosystems. ๐Ÿ’ง

Also present was Marco Hartl, contributing within the EU-funded project CARDIMED EU, where alchemia-nova focuses on transferability and replication of NBS from Mediterranean contexts to Central Europe. Conference highlights spanned treatment wetlands, green walls, river and wetland restoration, and SuDS/urban water management.

A memorable part of the conference was the excursion organised by Hashtag#GdanskWater showcasing multiple SuDS and a strong policy lever: public building tenders must ensure on-site buffering of 30 mm rainfallโ€”achieved in aesthetically pleasing ways through green infrastructure/SuDS. This accelerates uptake, strengthens climate adaptation and resilience, reduces long-term costs, and enhances public health and liveability (e.g., mitigating urban heat islands)

A big thanks to Magdalena Gajewska and Magda Kasprzyk together with their incredible team from Hashtag#Politechnika Politechnika Gdaล„ska for the outstanding organization and hospitality, and please lobby to invite the DJ you hired for the next edition as well ๐Ÿ˜‰
