Building on the legacy of the REMEDIES project, this new Horizon Europe initiative brings together 52 partners from 15 countries to further support the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030, helping waterfront cities and ports become cleaner, more resilient, and more connected to their communities.

At alchemia-nova, we are proud to lead the co-design of the project’s portfolio of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for marine and port ecosystems, contribute to the demonstration of two multifunctional NbS in Ostend (Belgium) and Mersin (Türkiye), and support replication and exploitation activities through the development of a twinning programme and a follower-city methodology.

Earlier this month our team of Panos Petridis, Marco Hartl and Plestenjak Gregor attended the Future of Plastic (R)evolution conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, beautifully organised by the Kemijski inštitut – National Institute of Chemistry as well as the REMEDIES 5.0 Kick-Off Meeting. During the KOM Marco Hartl presented our concept for innovative water treatment NbS that will be further developed and demonstrated throughout the project.

Happy to see the strong continuity emerging across Mission Ocean and Waters initiatives and sister projects, reconnecting with many familiar faces from our collaborations such as INSPIRE. Building on the knowledge, partnerships, and momentum generated through these initiatives, we are excited to embark on this new journey and look forward to four years of collaboration, innovation, and impact across Europe’s rivers, coasts, ports, and waterfronts!
