Susanna Findlay

Junior Ecologist

Susanna is a Biology PhD student at the University of Vienna, in the department of functional and evolutionary ecology, specialising in zooplankton biodiversity changes in alpine lakes. She previously studied Zoology BSc in Glasgow, Scotland, with a focus on tropical ecology and herpetology. She has conducted field surveys in Tobago, Guyana and Peru. During her Masters, she worked at a limnological research centre in Lunz am See where she worked as a field researcher, conducing lake sampling, and as a technical assistant in the lab – working on nutrient limitation assays; analysing total and dissolved nutrients in lakes; on microscopic analysis of plankton; and in the molecular lab, extracting DNA. She is keen to apply her knowledge from monitoring ecosystems, to coming up with Nature Based Solutions against some of the current challenges faced by limnological systems and other environments.
